About The Firm
Mitchell Architecture, PC is a full-service residential design firm established in Colorado in 1992. Jim Mitchell, president and principal-in-charge, has been a licensed architect in the State of Colorado since 1978. The firm specializes in distinctive single-family home designs and remodels in both city and mountain settings. New residences are artfully crafted to blend the needs and desires of the owner with the unique characteristics of the site. Remodels are designed to respect and complement the particular style of the home within its neighborhood setting, whether traditional, historic or contemporary. Recently the firm has expanded its scope into light commercial and tenant finish projects.
Jim’s broad experience includes energy-efficient “green” design and interfacing with local zoning departments, home owner associations, and historical preservation committees. He has received recognition in local news publications, participated in industry panel presentations and been featured in books by Taunton Press regarding new home design and residential remodeling. He is a past member of the architectural design committee for Denver’s Habitat for Humanity and recently served as architectural critic on the design jury for the “Colorado Awards for Remodeling Excellence” (C.A.R.E.). Two 2013 residential projects were presented first place awards by the Home Builder’s Association and the Denver Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
